clear last logged on user name from logon
Posted by: bruntech in Microsoft Windows XP, tags: Regeditoverview: user regedit to connect to remote pc to clear the last logon user logon. This helps prevent a user from locking out a user account that is not their user logon.
- run regedit with administrator rights to the pc you are going clear the last logon user
- Within Regedit click File, click connect network registry
- type in the pc host name you want to connect to
- browse through the PC’s registry to [remote pc name]\hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
- Clear the registry field for DefaultUserName
Now your user name will not show up forcing the user to type in their user name, and therefore preventing the user from locking out your logon.

This will only work if you delete the DefaultUserName before you log off the remote pc. Or before one clicks on OK for the Important Notice message box. If someone clicks on OK on the Important Notice box before you clear the field, the last logged on user will display until the Important Notice message box pops up again.
